How do I register with Abacus?

It’s really easy, and there are several ways that you can apply to work for us. Firstly you can submit your CV online.  You can visit the link here or at the top of each page.  You could also apply for one of our jobs directly and you will be contacted by the relevant office to discuss further.  Finally you can call your nearest office which can be found on the contact page and they will book you an appointment to go into your local office, meet with the team and register your details. Whichever method you choose, you can be assured that your application will be dealt with efficiently and one of our consultants will be in touch to try and help you find the right job for you.

What jobs can you help me get?

Typically we can help you get temporary or permanent positions.  We work in the light industrial, distribution, logistics, hospitality and office sectors.  But the best thing to do is to go to our job search and see for yourself.

I have registered and I can see jobs on your website that I think I am suitable for. Why have you not called me?

This could be for any number of reasons. Often there are very specific criteria that the client has in mind.  Sometimes it could be that you have not informed us of a change in circumstance.  For example, you may have moved to a different location or be prepared to work at a lower salary than you had told us.  If in doubt then please call and we can double check. Rest assured if Abacus can put you forward for a position, we will do so!

Will you send my CV to employers without contacting me?

No. We only send your details to our client after we have spoken to you and received your permission.

I have applied for a job, when will I hear back?

We acknowledge all applications via e-mail.  If you are suitable for the role then we will contact you to discuss it within 3 working days (although it is normally much sooner). If we have not contacted you by then it could be that we felt you were unsuitable for the role or that we have not received your CV.  Please feel free to call us up and ask.

I have applied for a vacancy online, why haven’t you sent it to the employer?

We look at all applications and call suitable applicants to discuss the role and make them aware of who the end employer is. Your details will then be sent once you agree.  Our clients pay us to only put forward the right people.

I have an interview – what should I wear?

Ask your consultant what would be appropriate. They will have knowledge of the client.  If in doubt present yourself smartly.

What can you do for me?

We are here to help you with find a job.  For some people that will be about getting money, for others it’s about finding a career.  Whatever you want it’s important that you feel you can ask us for advice at every stage. We will give you all the help and guidance you need.  Specifically we can help you set out your CV, prepare you for interviews and advise on salary and pay rates.

What are my responsibilities?

We ask that you also keep us informed of any updates so that we can work together as effectively as possible.

Aside from that we ask that you are courteous to our staff and if you say you are going to do something, you do it!
